If you couldn’t guess from the name, Herbivore Botanicals is an all-natural line, and a thoughtfully formulated one at that. According to the brand’s site, almost all of their products’ ingredients are active—including some that are even food grade. For the beauty conscious, Herbivore Botanicals hits all the checkmarks including sulfate-free, paraben-free, non-toxic ingredients, animal cruelty free, and recyclable packaging. All of the their products have natural scents, and those dreamy pastel hues are the formulations’ natural coloring.

There’s a reason that Herbivore Botanicals wins over skin care junkies’ hearts, and that reason is results. Not only is the line all-natural—there’s not a “meh” ingredient to be found. Each one of their products contains minimal-to-no filler ingredients for a totally stacked formulation. Which means that each product is able to penetrate deeper into the skin and quickly show tangible results.

Before Herbivore Botanicals boosted their cultish 334 K IG followers, the brand was a small Etsy shop based in Seattle.  Julia Wills and Alexander Kummerow (a husband / wife duo) founded the skin line in 2011, and were making the products in the their kitchen. (Talk about #couplegoals!) Some of their first products were face and body soaps that they still sell on the site today. In their interview with New Beauty, Wills and Kummerow say they try to preserve the brand’s family vibes. In fact, the soaps are all still hand-made by Wills’ father.

The ultimate mission of Herbivore Botanicals is to create beauty rituals that provide the user with a full sensorial experience. That means from the first scent to the face-mask selfie, the brand encourages fans to indulge in the moment. They stand by the statement that investing in your skin is like investing in yourself. If you want to learn a bit more about the mind, body, and inner beauty connection, Herbivore Botanicals even sells their own book on the subject.
